In search of the 'best light' as a photographer, will normally see me up in the early hours and possibly still clutching the tripod and working out compositions way after the sun has descended over the horizon late in the evening.
With this in mind, I had recently decided to 'get out and about' more during the daytime and this shot of Bamburgh is one that I had been wanting to make for some time.
During the summer months, the beach at Bamburgh is a much-used venue with kite-flyers, holiday-makers, surfers, sun-bathers, dog-walkers and just occasionally, the odd rugby team doing some pre-season training.
In this shot to the right of the frame are Fettes College from Edinburgh, doing some 'hard yards' in preparation for their season.
The tide was just at the right height for me to make a photo from Harkness Rocks with a long lens, zooming in on the details of this marvellous location.

Shot Detail: Canon 1D MKIV / ISO 50 / f22 / 1/4 second. Lee filters.
