"Bamburgh Dawn"

"Bamburgh Dawn"

Bamburgh has always been a favourite location of mine and there is little doubt that I will be returning time and time again, looking for new points of view at this iconic castle and beach.
In my mind for this photograph was capturing the sun back-lighting the castle to accentuate its magnificent shape and form.
Paying careful attention to weather forecasts, tide times and sunrise positions is always essential for this type of shot. On this particular cool December morning, all of the elements seemed to come together nicely and it was just a case of waiting for the light and getting both the camera settings and filter combinations correct to make the photo.

Shot Detail: Canon 1D MKIV, 17-40mm f4 lens, f16 aperture and 2 second exposure. Cokin filters.
